CHARACTER CLAIM GUIDELINES

  • The only limit to how many characters you can play is how many you can successfully maintain a reasonable level of activity for. You may apply for as many characters at once as you would like.

  • The cast cap we originally had has been removed.

  • For the time being, doubles of the same character MAY be accepted on a case by case basis, but aren't encouraged.

  • Original characters are highly encouraged and celebrated! This is an OC-friendly game.

  • For canon characters from a franchise, please do not squat on a character you don’t intend to use often, especially if that character is very popular.

  • We discourage using two characters from the same series unless there is no reason they would feasibly interact.

  • To claim a character, please fill out the form below in a comment. PLEASE NOTE: You will be entering in some information twice, as some of it is for us to put on the Taken list.

    Character

    Character Name: Captain Jack Harkness {Gray Thane}
    Canon: DOCTOR WHO/TORCHWOOD {Mirrorverse AU}
Canon Point: Post Torchwood S1, DW 5.11 Utopia, just after arriving at the end of the universe
History: Mirrorverse history of Captain Jack Harkness
Personality: Like all Mirror Universe denizens, this version of Captain Jack is quite different from the original—quite literally in that he’s an entirely different man. Where in our world, the Time Agency recruited a con man named Javic Piotr Thane, in another they recruited his younger brother, Gray, instead. While this Captain Jack lived a very similar life, his origins have shaped him into a much different man.

Tortured and held in captivity for most of his formative years, Gray’s mind broke early on but unlike the Gray of the normal world, his spirit never did. Allowing himself to be consumed by a rage and bloodlust that rivaled that of his captors fueled his desire to live rather than an obsession with revenge against his brother. When he was eventually free, that anger and those violent tendencies didn’t find a focus, but rather turned on the world at large: he didn’t want to make one person suffer, he wanted to make everyone suffer.

The difference in losing his mind but not his soul meant that, even in anger and violence, he never forgot his own personal suffering: losing his family, his innocence, his freedom. As such, he held on to a maladapted sense of empathy that made him crave human connection as much as he craved human pain. The weak and defenseless, heroes, healers, and bringers of joy: these were his kryptonite in his time with the Agency, those he chose to protect rather than destroy. In meeting similar souls while working for and later forming his own Torchwood, that malformed empathy began to find shape.

However, just like the original, Jack is not without his charms—though here, they’re less charisma and more the adaptive predilections of a sociopath. The role of enigmatic and dashing leader is just that: a mask he wears to keep those around him at a safe distance save for those he has claimed as his own. Though his state of mind is far more stable than it was in his youth, time has not improved his mental health, just his masks—and his ability to use them to channel his darker impulses into a more positive outlet: defense of his world, the respect of those he has given his trust, and the brother he hopes to one day find again.

    CRAU (if any): N/A
Initial Game Plan: Know your enemy—and initially Jack will see this environment as hostile. Once he finds his brother, however, he will start to relax and treat the Dreamscape as he treated Cardiff once upon a time: an alien terrain he must call home for a time, and he will become far more open to learning about it and connecting with those who dwell there.
RP Interests: …is ‘everything’ a valid answer? :p
NSFW Interests: ALL TEH PR0N—I’m down to smut it up, just come have a chat with me to discuss how filthy you wanna get. I, like my muses, am easy. XD

    Character Name: Mo’rtajha Tykha
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV (Canon OC)
Canon Point: As a side note she is NOT the Warrior of Light (the player controlled character in game). Just as the chaos of the Final Days starts to reach their peak, Mo’rtajha goes to sleep wondering if the world is truly ending or not…and wakes up in a new place entirely.
History: Short version: A tribal Miqo’te who’s lead a nomadic and turbulent life thanks to an invading force into her homelands. What remains of her tribe escapes, only to move around in foreign lands. Scraping by to make do for what remains of her family, Mort yearns for a simpler time and a place to truly call home. In-depth history here!
Personality: Extroverted to the max and horny on main, Mort can kinda be a handful but in the fun way. Most of the time. In-depth personality section here!

    CRAU (if any): N/A
Initial Game Plan: She’s probably going to freak out, to be honest. The world was ending as far as she understood it, so she'll latch onto anyone and everyone who shows her even a hint of kindness. Good luck if you’re not a touchy feely person because she has no problem invading personal spaces.
RP Interests: Someone teach this dumb cat how to read. Also looking to develop her to be more vulnerable around others and de-weaponize horny-on-mind mindset a bit! You know, be horny like a normal person. Down for any and all shenanigans!
NSFW Interests: She’s ready to party any way someone likes to, so up for almost any and all NSFW activities regardless of gender or species!

    Character Name: Amanda Perry
    Canon: Stargate Universe
    Canon Point: post-1x16 'Sabotage'
History: Many people would have been content to have simple desk jobs if they became a quadriplegic as a young child, but despite years of repeated dreams of walking after her accident at age nine, Amanda always wanted more. Perhaps she was hoping that her work would eventually aide in the discovery of a cure for her injury, or perhaps she was doing it to prove to the world she could have a fulfilling life in spite of it, or maybe it was just because she had a true passion for engineering and computers. Whatever the reason, despite many barriers impeding her education (as she became paralyzed several years before the Americans With Disabilities Act would become law), Amanda worked to obtain not just a undergraduate degree but a master's and eventual doctorate in Systems Engineering with a special focus in aeronautics (we are never told specifically what her doctorate is in on screen, but based on the work she does for SGC/on Destiny, this seems the most logical).

While it is unknown how she was recruited into the Stargate Program or precisely how long she was working there, it is known that she was part of a team designing the next generation of hyperdrives, and through that work she met Dr. Nicholas Rush. Unlike nearly everyone he worked with, Rush considered Amanda to be intelligent and capable and the two became close enough to him to address each other by nicknames.

They worked together for years, presumably through his wife's cancer coming out of remission as she implies they knew each other before Gloria passed away. They became close enough that after his wife's death, while Rush became colder to most people as he focused on the mystery of the ninth chevron, he continued to have 'long talks' with Amanda about Ancient technology and even played chess with her (and, much to her delight, could never beat her), and he was one of few people she confided in about her continued feelings of loss around her disability, telling him about her frequent dreams of walking. In Amanda's eyes, he stood out among many because he seemed to 'not even see the chair', being able to address and treat her as an equal--and actually better, as he considered her to be the 'most qualified' in her field.

While she seems to have been very satisfied in her professional life, Amanda is very notably (to the point of not trying to hide it when talking to Eli on their first meeting) dissatisfied with aspects of her interpersonal life, particularly her lack of any kind of romantic connection. While she never says when she fell in love with Dr. Rush, and may not have even realized when it happened until it already had, she states that she spent quite some time (particularly after his wife's death) trying to drop hints to him that she saw him as more than a friend and colleague. Despite knowing that she could not have the kind of sexual relationship with him that most women would have been capable of, she still longed for that emotional connection. However, due to both his grief and his search for the secret of the ninth chevron, Rush remained oblivious to her feelings until they began working together again on Destiny.

In 2009, Amanda came aboard Destiny through the use of the long-range communication stones (briefly exchanging places with Lieutenant Vanessa James, and then Camile Wray) to help with repairs to a damaged FTL drive. While there for work, her joy was visible from the moment she lifted James' hand--her hand, the first time she'd been able to do that in some twenty years. However, it still took her some time--and the aide of some liquid courage--to flat out tell Nicholas that her feelings towards him were more than platonic.

The fact that Amanda almost literally as well as metaphorically jumped at the chance to attempt physical intimacy with Rush when coming aboard Destiny to repair the ship's damage FTL drive shows how deeply (and how long) she had held feelings for him. She is clearly deeply hurt that he can't return those feelings, but accepts his logical answers that he is still mourning his wife and is uncomfortable being intimate with her while she is in another woman's body. While not sure at all if this would mean he would have wanted her in hers if he had ever picked up on the hints, Amanda does not seem to feel as if she has been 'friend-zoned', still gladly comforting him in his grief (grateful to be able to hold him as he cried as she wouldn't have been able to on Earth) and is eager to see him again in the future--in whatever capacity that means.

While the experience was not without its dangers (the ship came under attack once, and Amanda experienced two instances of being 'thrown' back into her body due to disturbances in the connection with the communication stones), she still stated a desire to come back. While the fact she kissed him shows this was certainly due to wanting to see Rush again, her attraction to him was certainly not her only reason for wanting a reason to return. Despite working for a program centered around space travel, her disability had kept her from really seeing the stars as many in the Program did, and--along with being able to walk and move as she hadn't in so many years--she clearly longed to have the opportunity to see them up close again, as she met Eli Wallace's annoyance at their situation by telling him emphatically that she would 'give anything' to be there.
    Personality:

Amanda is extremely curious and intelligent, having extensive knowledge of engineering, astrophysics and technology, as well as Ancient writing and other fields, something which earned her the moniker 'Little Miss Brilliant' from Nicholas Rush. Considering that he, for the most part, considers even the majority of his colleagues to be inferior intellectually, this was an incredible compliment and something Amanda took great pride in (even if she didn't care for the nickname itself).

While confident in her abilities, Amanda seems aware they were likely a way to compensate for her disability, to get people to see her as capable and more than just 'the chair' as well as being a coping mechanism, as her work allowed her to glimpse not just more of Earth, but out into the whole galaxy. She is aware that her interest in astronomy and astrophysics (and believed easily in the Ancients and their technology) may have been born not just from the innate wonder in them, but because in some corner of her mind she hoped that somewhere out there she might find a way to a 'fresh start'--a way back to the whole, independent body she still remembered in her dreams.

While not ashamed of her disability and always insisting that people with disabilities were capable of working and loving just as much as able bodied people, since her accident Amanda has mourned what she lost--recalling repeated dreams of being able to walk, and attempting to take advantage of her time in Camile Wray's body to be intimate with Nick, pleading when he rejected her advances (not for lack of desire, but other personal issues, including the fact she was in Camile's body) as it was a 'once in a lifetime opportunity'. While logically she recognizes that it is possible for people with extreme forms of paralysis to experience some form of intimacy, the way people looked at her as 'the chair', along with the fact that she required round the clock care for her most personal needs, left her feeling very undesirable and nonsexual, unable to see how she could ever practically have that form of intimacy.

Despite longing for a 'fresh start' and mourning what she lost in the accident that paralyzed her, however, Amanda is generally a cheerful and optimistic person. Although she was originally brought aboard Destiny to help with a repair that, if not completed, would leave the crew of Destiny drifting without being able to restock supplies before they died, she was beaming and laughing on arrival and her curiosity was immediately piqued by an alien fruit. She delights in learning, even finding a sliver of joy in her death when she is able to analyze items and dig through Destiny's database faster (something she recalls with delight to Nick) due to living inside the computer.

She is loyal to people she cares for, almost to a fault, and would never betray the trust of someone she believes in (thus why Nick will later trust her with not telling the others he had found how to control Destiny when he trusted no one else). However, she will confront them on behavior she thinks is wrong in some way, as she first does when Nick doesn't explain to her why he's hiding his knowledge of the bridge.

She is generally easy going (if maybe a little socially awkward) around people, but will quickly become defensive and short if it is implied her life is in anyway less due to her disability, such as when she believed Eli was implying disabled people couldn't have romantic relationships--assuming that was the cause of his surprise, not that he was stunned she loved Nick, and when people try to 'help' when she doesn't need it as when Volker and Brody try to help her fly the ship during her second visit to Destiny, when she required no assistance, she finally snapped at them to shut up, hinting that she is used to this kind of behavior. This, in part, explains her attraction to Nick--she tells Eli that when they worked together, it was 'like he didn't even see the chair'--notable because others did. This explains her hurt, defensive 'I'm a person, Nick', when he comments, after she becomes part of Destiny's computers, that he couldn't beat her at chess 'when [she was] a person'--the fact that the one person who had treated her as a full person herself denied her her humanity, even accidentally, was very insulting--and likely played a part in her deciding to take him into the virtual reality scenario so he could feel her and be reminded that for all that she was integrated into the computers, she was also still a person.

She is not half as guarded with her emotions as Nick, easily telling Eli of her crush and that she had attempted to make Nick see it in the past. She feels no shame in feeling great love for someone who was a mentor, as she never let it stop her from doing her work and knows that he found emotional solace in working with her after his wife died, while he treated her with more respect than most she had known without acting like he had to slow down for her due to her disability, so she does not feel that anyone was being 'taken advantage of as some people might believe has to happen in such relationships.

    CRAU (if any): N/A
Initial Game Plan: Amanda explicitly mentions that she's had dreams about walking ever since her accident, and having just recently swapped bodies with someone to do repairs on an alien spaceship lightyears from Earth, she won't be too thrown by this new reality and will be genuinely delighted to explore and meet people both on a purely academic level and the personal of being able to move and live independently for the first time. She'll be a little shy at first, but she'll start opening up as she gets comfortable with people and herself
RP Interests: Amanda just really needs nerdy friends who have nothing to do with her work, and possibly to help her work through her Very Complicated feelings for her not-boyfriend back home.
NSFW Interests: Due to her disability, Amanda's never had sex before but she's shown a longing for that kind of physical connection. While her longstanding crush for Nicholas will make it a little difficult for her to get to the same point with anyone else, if it happens outside of a very few, very specific things (mostly as they'd be negative reminders of her disability) she'd be interested in at least learning about just about anything.
